XL  INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC STUDENTS CONFERENCE

"STUDENT AND PROGRESS IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY"

 

For the last 39 years the Novosibirsk State University has organized an annual scientific students conference entitled "The Student and Progress in Science & Technology". The goal of the conference is to encourage students, graduates and postgraduates to solve problems of modern science and to stimulate international ties. The conference is very essential for bringing up the younger generation of scientists in the spirit of freedom and democracy. It helps students identify themselves with the world scientific community and adapt to the period of transition to the rule-of-law state and free market economy here in Russia. The conference of the 2002 year is scheduled for 16-18, April. There are plenary and section meetings on the program.  The results of both experimental and theoretical studies in the following fields of science may be presented.

1. Section on Mathematics. Subsections: algebra and logic; differential equations; theory of functions; mathematical and functional analysis; hydrodynamics; continuum mechanics; theoretical cybernetics; calculus of probability; numerical analysis; programming, mathematical economics.

2. Section on Physics. Subsections: radiophysics; automation of scientific research and computer graphics; physical and technical informatics; low temperature and phase transition physics; plasma physics; physics of  accelerators and elementary particles; aerophysics and non-equilibrium processes; quantum optics;   semiconductor and dielectric physics; chemical physics,  biological and medical physics.

3. Section on Chemistry. Subsections: catalysis and adsorption; chemistry of aromatic and heterocyclic compounds; chemical kinetics; inorganic chemistry; solid state chemistry; biochemistry and the chemistry of nature compounds; molecular design and environmentally  appropriate technologies.

4. Section on Biology. Subsections: physiology of a man and animals; molecular biology and biochemistry; cytology and genetics, ecology (ecosystem protection; problems of gene pool of animals and plants, and so on).

5. Section on Geology. Subsections: paleontology and stratigraphy; petrography and geochemistry; mineralogy; geophysics; general and regional geology; geology of combustible mineral resources.

6. Section on Economics. Subsections: economic sociology; general theory of economics; analysis and modelling of  territories development; imitation modeling and informatics; management systems for industry; finance and banking; civil and economic law in Russia; economics and business, management.

7. Section on History. Subsections: culture of ancient times and the Middle Ages; new and newest history; home history from X to  the first half of  XIX century; history of Russia from the second half of XIX   to  the beginning of XX century; new political and socio-economic history of Russia; history of Russian culture and ideology in Soviet period and modern times.

8. Section on Archaeology and Ethnography. Subsections: archaeology of the Stone and Bronze Ages; archaeology of the early iron  Age; archaeology of the  Middle Ages; ethnography.

9. Section on Orientalism. Subsections: archaeology and history; mythology and philology; philosophy and culture; economics and politics.  

10. Section on Philosophy. Subsections: history of philosophy and modern times; philosophy and modern science; man in modern philosophy; traditions and innovations in spiritual culture; norms and values of social interaction; ethical problems and modern times.

11. Section on Literary Criticism.  Subsections: Russian literature of XIX century;  XX century and modern Russian literature; ancient Russian literature and studying early texts.

12. Section on Linguistics. Subsections: history of the Russian  language and linguistic textology; linguistic semantics; linguistic typology; linguistic stylistics and culture of speech; modern syntax problems.

13. Section on  Romance and Germanic Languages.

14. Section on Journalism. Subsections: history of journalism, modern mass media. 

15. Section on Computer Sciences. Subsections: computer graphics, animations, multimedia, hypermedia, virtual environment; GIS-technologies; net technologies, Internet technologies and their applications; methods and systems for defense and security of information; distributed information treatment, corporative information systems; information; technologies for education; managing communicatory systems; instrumental and applied software systems; technologies of artificial intellect, school subsection; architecture of information systems for parallel computations; brainware.

16. Section on Global Problems and Sustainable Development. Subsections: social technologies and valuables of sustainable development; Russia in the context of geopolitics, economics, and world culture; natural and technical sciences in solving global problems; education and the aims of sustainable development; philosophical problems of ecology and sustainable development.

17. Section on Government/Management. Subsections: theory and practice of management, Russian and foreign experience in the federal and municipal government, staff management, psychology of management.

18. Section on State and Law. Subsections: theory and history of state and law, public law, private law.

 

Section 1-16 will be held at the Novosibirsk state university and sections 17-18 at the Novosibirsk Academy of State Employment.

For participation in the conference you should send to the organizing committee:

    a) The application form with the following information: your section and subsection, your institution, faculty and semester, your current address, your full name and the name of your supervisor, necessary technical equipment (computers, etc.)  for your presentation.  In order to send you an official invitation for visa application, we also need the following data:   sex, date of birth, place of birth, citizenship, passport number.  The application form must be filled for each author separately.

    b) Your communication of 1-2 A5 pages in volume. The scheme of your communication is as follows:

The requirements for the texts:

a) for sections 1, 10 the text is prepared with the use of LATEX (10pt, textwidth 11.5cm, textheight 16cm) or Word;

b) for the remaining sections, the text is prepared with the use of Word; for sections 1-16, you should use the following parameters: format of a page A5, Times new roman, 10pt, ordinary interval, left, right, upper, and lower margins 1.7cm, the distance between the text and the page number 10mm; for sections 17-18 you should use the following: format of a page A5, Times new roman, 10pt, left, right, upper, and lower margins 2cm.

 

The deadline for submission is 25th of February 2002 for sections 1-16 and 15th of March for sections 17-18.

 

Warning: it is possible that your report will not be included in the program of the conference (if it does not correspond to the program or does not contain new scientific information).

 

All invitations will be sent until the 20th of March 2002. The Organizing Committee invites students, postgraduates, or

simply young scientists to take part in the conference.
