    Laboratory of Theoretical Genetics

    Line of the investigation:
Modeling of proteins’ evolution. The investigated approach will give an opportunity to solve problems in planning of genetic engineering experiments in the area of molecular protein design. It will also allow to research structural-functional proteins' organization.

    My subtask in the project:
Constructing a logical-probabilistic model determining structure preserving mutations in proteins.
Developing of an Expert System’s (ES) part. The ES is to analyze protein's structure and to predict mutations, whose are to change protein’s characteristics in a desirable way.

At present the problem is biologically and mathematically formulated.

Work is supported by the Russia Federation President’s grant (No. NSH-2112.2003.1). Grant is for the governmental support of the leading scientific schools.

    Obtained Results

I constructed discrete models describing certain class of proteins mutations. Class contains structure preserving mutations only. Modeling was based on the Neural Networks method and KRAB algorithm. There was a comparison of the modeling results for each method made.
