Libraries
In Akademgorodok the University Library supports student’s learning with a substantial collection
of textbooks and other subject literature. Books on Russian history, language
and literature are one of the best such sets available in the russian acadeemy.
In Novosibirsk the State Public Scientific and technical Library is one of the
largest library and information centres in Asia. Its books collection numbers
over 14.000 000, it possesses scientific, technological, marketing,
reference and educational literature including about 15.000 rare books and
manuscripts. The library is unique in Siberia getting at least one copy of each
edition in Russia and maintains international book-exchange relations with
organizations of 40 countries. For readers there are 13 research and specialized
reading rooms and two divisions in Akademgorodok. A wide spectrum of
bibliographical data and electronic catalogues is available both in the local
mode and over Internet.
Computing Service
Computing Services are located in various buildings. NSU has an extensive
computer network that provides gateways to national and international internet
connections. Computer facilities are also available in particular departments.
There are also paid-access internet rooms in NSU. All students can get a free

Sport Centre
The University Sports Centre includes a large gymnasium and a soccer field which
is used up in winter as a skating rink. There is also an all-year round swimming
pool and a cross-country ski track of near-professional quality.
Every third student is a member of sports team training at one of the 30
clubs associated with the university. The most popular sports are games, tennis,
wrestling and gymnastics. Our teams frequently win prizes at academic sport
competitions at the city and regional level. Highly-qualified
coaches help individual athlets to reach competitive standarts in their chosen
sport.
Health Centre
Students have access to the university Health Centre, where general
practitioners are available at short notice to treat most common illness. Where
special help is required patients can be referred to a nearby hospital. In
addition the university operates a sanatorium on-campus where minor ailments can
be treated by balmeotherepy, physiotherepy, etc. both as in and out patient.
In order to receive medical services in Russia а foreigner must purchase
private medical plan, which covers all the costs in the event of
unexpected health-related problems.
