The chair of Law was founded in 1998 at the Department of Economics of Novosibirsk State University. The first Head was Doctor of Law, Professor Lev Borisovich Galperin. At present the Head of the chair is Candidate of Law, Assistant Professor Valeriy Nikolaevich Lisitsa.

The core of the teaching staff consists of research workers of Institute of Philosophy and Law of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, judges, prosecutors, lawyers, notaries and other specialists (legal experts) working in state and private economic sectors.

The chair organizes and provides training for the students of the Economics and Law subdivision in general professional legal disciplines, disciplines of specialization as well as optional courses.
