The Department of Information Technology was founded in 2000 on the basis of the Department of Technology.
The department trains specialists in Informatics and Computer Engineering.
At present specialization is provided at the following chairs: Informatics Systems, Computer Systems, General Informatics, Information-measuring Systems, Parallel Computing, Discrete Analysis and Operation Research. Students of the department attend lectures of prominent scientists and specialists, and from the very beginning of their studies have an opportunity to get involved in the work of research teams of leading scientific schools and companies that are customers and consumers of knowledge of NSU graduates in computer science. From the 3rd year, depending on the chosen specialization, training is performed in various areas: from system programming to modern computer and microprocessor architecture. Wide and fundamental education allows graduates of the department to successfully work at the intersection of informatics and physics, biology, economics, banking management, business, in modern hi-tech industries, to participate in the creation of innovative software products, modeling of processes and phenomena.
The Head of the department is corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor Anatoliy Mikhaylovich Fedotov.
