The chair was founded in 1961 by L.V. Kantorovich, the member of The USSR Academy of Sciences, Nobel Prize Laureate.
The chair’s research priorities are:
- Computational solutions of elliptic boundary conditions;
- Variation difference methods;
- Statistical methods of solving of mathematical physics problems;
- Computing techniques of linear algebra;
- Computational solution of differential equations;
- Approximation theory and computer graphics.
