Chair of Deformable Solid Mechanics

The chair of Deformable Solid Mechanics was founded in 1981 by E.I. Shemyakin, the member of The USSR Academy of Sciences. Professor B.D. Annin has been the head of the chair since 1987. Students and postgraduates major in deformable solid mechanics, elasticity theory, composite mechanics and rock mechanics.

The main objectives of the chair are the following:

  • to facilitate training process in deformable solid mechanics within the framework of students’ training program in continuum mechanics and applied mathematics;
  • to provide specialization in deformable solid mechanics within the following fields: composite mechanics, geomaterial mechanics and numerical techniques of deformable solid mechanics
