Being one of the youngest chairs of NSU it was founded in 2003. The Head of the chair is S.S Goncharov, the corresponding member of The Russian Academy of Sciences. The chair mainly consists of the members of Mathematical Logic Laboratory and the Laboratory of Computability Theory and Applied Logic of the Institute of Mathematics named after S. L. Sobolev of The Siberian Branch of The Russian Academy of Sciences.

The following well-known specialists in mathematical logics are among the chair members: A.S. Morozov, D.E. Palchunov, O.V. Kudinov, A.A. Maltsev, S.P. Odintsov, S.L. Bereznyuk, S.Y. Podzorov and others.

The chair cooperates with world and Russian leading universities. Students have an opportunity to take part in scientific conferences of highest level and to interact with scientists working at the cutting edge of modern science.
