The Chair of Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics was founded in 1965. The Head of the Chair is A.A. Borovkov, the member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The Chair of Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics provides lectures and discussion sessions in Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics at the following departments of NSU:

• Department of Mechanics and Mathematics
• Department of Physics
• Department of Economics (subdivision “Mathematical methods and research of operations in economics”)
• Department of Geology and Geophysics (subdivision “Geophysics”)
• Department of Natural Science (subdivision “Biology”).

Every year, the Chair performs one or two elective courses featuring modern state of science.
