Department of Medicine

The Department of Medicine was founded in 2003 at the base of the subdivision of Medicine of the Department of Natural Sciences. The Department trains specialists in medical care.

The training is performed at the chairs of fundamental and clinical medicine, where leading specialists of various clinics work along with those of the institutes of The Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences as well as State Science Center of Virology and Biotechnology VECTOR. The courses at the Department of Medicine of NSU are those required for all the medical universities of our country as well. Also, our students attend courses in mathematics, physics, chemistry, molecular biology, genetics and pharmacology. Special attention is drawn to the latest achievements of modern medicine. The particular feature of the department is that basic biological training is quite similar to that at the biological department of the Department of Natural Sciences.

Knowledge and research experience gained at the Department allows the students both to continue their education at postgraduate, internship and clinical residency studies, and to perform biomedical and medical research in the institutes of SB RAS and SB RAMS, as well as to maintain relations between basic science and practical health care, and to work in diagnostic and treatment centers and clinics of health care institutions.

The Head of the Department is Doctor of Medicine, Professor Andrey Georgievich Pokrovskiy.
