Social organizations

The NSU students are actively involved in various social projects and competitions, charity events and social organizations of Novosibirsk. For example, Charity Day is held within the frame of the Maximum Week Festival. During this week NSU students, faculty members and residents of Akademgorodok collect things to donate them to orphanages.

Donor’s Day is held at NSU twice a year. “Our students take a very active part in this event. We keep getting credits for that. The donor campaign has been gathering pace during the last years. While formerly we had had about 40-50 donors during one campaign, this spring the number of donors has increased up to 130. For this autumn we managed to prolong this event up to two days” – says Lyudmila Moskvina, the campaign initiator, a student of the Medical Department. “The effect of this extension is evident: there are plenty of people willing to donate blood, they have been waiting in line at the ambulance’s door since early morning”.

There is a number of student construction teams working at NSU in summer. The first student teams appeared in Novosibirsk region in 1965. Since then, every summer more than 100 students have entered the student teams to repair dormitories, to cover alleys with asphalt, to equip playgrounds and parking areas.

Social issues of NSU students and staff members are regulated by the Department of Social Affairs of NSU.

There is also a psychological center and a hot line for students at the University.

Student Group for Crime Prevention (STOPP) has existed at NSU for 7 years. It aims at providing security within the campus.
