General Information on LSL General Information

For more than 25 years the Division of Laser Physics and Innovative Technologies at NSU (former Laser Systems Laboratory at NSU) has been working actively and successfully in research and development of new laser systems for a broad range of applications in physics, biochemistry, medicine and high-technologies. Division has greatly advanced research and fundamental understanding in the field of ultra-widely tuneable lasers, narrow-linewidth lasers, femtosecond systems, super-continuum generation. Breadth of scope, thorough and unconventional approach to research problems are the trade mark of Division team who sees its primary objective in delivering results immediately required in up-to-date prospective photonic technologies. The success of Division in many aspects stems from a stable permanent staff who have high proficiency in many fields of work, who are laborious and enthusiastic.

Laser Systems Laboratory

Division is located in the basement (r. 011) and on the 5th floor (r. 671) of the Laboratory Building of the NSU where we have all the required facilities.

Facilities of Laser Systems Laboratory

Division has perfect scientific and technological facilities that include specialised laser stands, modern equipment (partly created in the Division) and small multi-profile workshops where parts of experimental laser systems are assembled and tuned. It is necessary to note that some experimental lasers and laser systems are developed in close co-operation with Tekhnoscan Company. Laser equipment developed at Division and manufactured by Tekhnoscan has been successfully working in numerous world organisations including the largest metrological centres such as NIST, PTB, BNM, and NMIJ/AIST. At present, activities of the Division research group are concentrated around development of leading-edge hybrid bulk/fiber and all-fiber femtosecond systems, Q-switched laser systems, as well as in R&D of new promising sources of controlled powerful super-continuum.
