  4. A foreign citizen must leave the Russian Federation, when the visa expires

Visa Extension

All international students are initially issued a single entry student visa valid for 90 days. If it is necessary, you can extend the validity of the visa and get a multiple entry visa. To extend the validity of the visa you need to contact the NSU International Office one month before its expiry, where you will need to fill in the visa application form and submit the following documents:

  1. Your passport (ID)
  2. The migration card
  3. The tear-off part of the Notification of Foreign Citizen’s Arrival at the Place of Sojourn
  4. 4 photographs (3cm × 4cm, printed on matte paper)
  5. A receipt confirming the payment of the state duty (1,000 rubles)
  6. A copy of your enrolment contract To find out more about where you can have your photos taken, pay the state duty, etc., please contact the NSU International Office (Room 227, main building).

Leaving and re-entering Russia

Whether it is possible for an international student to leave Russia and re-enter it again, depends on the visa type. If you have a single entry visa you cannot travel outside the Russian Federation for three months (until your visa expires). In this case, you will need to receive a new invitation from NSU (30 days). However, you will be able to leave Russia and return back three months later when you have received a multiple entry visa.
